Lost your Hisense remote?

Lost the Hisense remote? Your phone replaces it over Wi-Fi — D-pad, volume, inputs, typing — with no hardware to buy. First, a Hisense sold in North America is usually a Google TV or a Fire TV, while the same model in Europe is a VIDAA set — which changes what can reach it.

Don't panic. Your phone is already a full Hisense VIDAA TV remote. No hardware needed.

Hisense changes OS by region

Which Hisense TV you have — and how it takes commands

Hisense sells the same panel with different software depending on where you bought it. In North America the U-series runs Google TV, part of the range ships with Fire TV, and a handful of models are Roku TVs. In Europe the same hardware runs VIDAA, Hisense’s own platform — the 2026 UR9S and UR8S flagships are literally the same TV with VIDAA in Europe and Google TV in North America.

Hisense TV model lines, the operating system each one runs, how it is reached over the network, whether pairing is required, and where the on-set button is.
Model line / series TV operating system How it is controlled over the network Pairing On-set button
U-series (U6 / U7 / U8, North America) Google TV Android TV remote protocol over TLS, ports 6466/6467 6-digit PIN on screen Control stick under the centre of the bottom bezel, or rear behind the logo
Hisense Fire TV models (e.g. U6HF) Amazon Fire TV Local HTTP, found by mDNS (_amzn-wplay._tcp) 4-digit PIN on screen Control stick under the centre of the bottom bezel
Hisense Roku TV models Roku TV Roku ECP — HTTP on port 8060, found by SSDP None on most units Single button, underside or rear
VIDAA models (Europe, most of the range) VIDAA U Hisense’s own local protocol — not Roku, Google TV or Fire TV Handled inside RemoteNOW Control stick under the centre of the bottom bezel
2026 UR9S / UR8S flagships VIDAA in Europe · Google TV in North America Follows whichever OS the region shipped Follows the OS Varies — some recent flagships hide the control entirely

VIDAA is Hisense’s in-house system and speaks its own protocol; RemoteNOW is the app written for it. A universal app that covers Roku OS, Google TV and Fire TV does not reach a VIDAA set.

Reaching the menu with no remote

A control stick, not a row of buttons

Most Hisense sets use a single five-way control stick rather than a button strip. It sits behind a small opening under the centre of the bottom bezel, roughly below the logo, or in the same position on the rear panel. Press it to power on, tilt it for volume and channel, and hold it to reach an on-screen quick menu on models that offer one.

From that quick menu the route is Settings → Network → Network Configuration, then pick your SSID and type the password. If your model has no quick menu, a USB keyboard plugged into the TV navigates first-time setup, and Ethernet skips the Wi-Fi step altogether.

Known Hisense failure mode

The set stops responding after a firmware update

Owners of Android-based Hisense models — the U6K and its Canadian U68KM variant come up most often — have widely reported sets becoming unresponsive after installing a firmware update. Hisense has not published an acknowledgement, so treat this as a well-attested owner report rather than a documented defect.

What helps: The recovery owners describe is a manual firmware reinstall: the correct image for your exact model on a FAT32 USB stick in the TV’s first USB port, then the power and panel button held to enter recovery mode. If the set is in warranty, call Hisense before trying it.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Specific answers for Hisense TV users — including which Hisense lines run which system.

Is there a free replacement remote app for Hisense TV on iPhone?

Yes — our free wireless remote replacement iOS app works with all Hisense Roku TV smart TVs. It connects to your TV over Wi-Fi using HTTP REST (Roku ECP) (port 8060), and Hisense Roku TV units are found automatically via SSDP — no manual IP address entry. No PIN or pairing code is required — the connection is instant. Full D-pad navigation, volume, mute, HDMI input switching, and media playback controls are available at zero cost — no subscription, no credit card, no trial period.

What's the fastest lost remote control guide for Hisense TV?

The fastest solution is a Wi-Fi remote app on your iPhone. Hisense smart TVs running Roku OS support LAN control via HTTP REST (Roku ECP) (port 8060). Open our app — your Hisense Roku TV appears in the device list automatically through SSDP discovery. No pairing code needed. You have full remote control in under 15 seconds without any hardware purchase or replacement remote.

How do I connect my iPhone to my Hisense smart TV via Wi-Fi to use as a remote?

Make sure your iPhone and Hisense Roku TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Our app uses SSDP to discover your TV automatically — no Bluetooth, no IR blaster, no IP address entry required. No PIN or pairing code is required — the connection is instant. After the first-time connection your iPhone is a permanent wireless remote replacement for the lost Hisense remote, with all navigation, volume, and streaming app controls working over Wi-Fi.

Does Hisense have its own remote app for this TV?

RemoteNOW. Hisense publishes RemoteNOW, written for VIDAA and Android-based Hisense sets. Its store listing names series like H6E, H8E, H9E and the V5G and V6G lines — a catalogue of older and VIDAA models rather than everything Hisense currently sells.

Where is the button on the Hisense TV itself, and can it reach the settings menu?

Most Hisense sets use a single five-way control stick rather than a button strip. It sits behind a small opening under the centre of the bottom bezel, roughly below the logo, or in the same position on the rear panel. Press it to power on, tilt it for volume and channel, and hold it to reach an on-screen quick menu on models that offer one. From that quick menu the route is Settings → Network → Network Configuration, then pick your SSID and type the password. If your model has no quick menu, a USB keyboard plugged into the TV navigates first-time setup, and Ethernet skips the Wi-Fi step altogether.

Why would a remote app fail to find my Hisense TV?

Owners of Android-based Hisense models — the U6K and its Canadian U68KM variant come up most often — have widely reported sets becoming unresponsive after installing a firmware update. Hisense has not published an acknowledgement, so treat this as a well-attested owner report rather than a documented defect. The recovery owners describe is a manual firmware reinstall: the correct image for your exact model on a FAT32 USB stick in the TV’s first USB port, then the power and panel button held to enter recovery mode. If the set is in warranty, call Hisense before trying it.
