Sony Bravia RMF-TX remotes (RMF-TX520E, RMF-TX600E, RMF-TX810U) pair with the TV via Bluetooth for the Google Assistant voice button and quick-access keys, while standard navigation buttons transmit via IR. If voice or shortcut buttons stop working while directional keys still function, the Bluetooth pairing has dropped. If all buttons fail, check the batteries or the IR path. Our iPhone app eliminates the hardware dependency entirely — full Bravia control over Wi-Fi, free.

Auto-Discovery. Zero Config.
Your Sony TV appears in the app automatically — no IP address, no Bluetooth, no pairing code. Connects in under 10 seconds on any home Wi-Fi network.
How it works
Replace Sony remote batteries. Solar-powered remotes need ambient light — hold near a lamp for 30 seconds.
Point at the TV's IR receiver and hold Return + Play/Pause simultaneously for 5 seconds to force a Bluetooth re-pair.
Hold Power + Volume Down + Channel Down for 12 seconds. The LED blinks three times on success.
Download the Universal TV Remote app for full Sony TV control over Wi-Fi while you troubleshoot the physical remote.
FAQ
Specific answers for Sony TV users.
On your Sony Bravia (Google TV or Android TV), navigate to Settings → Remotes & Accessories → Bluetooth → Add Device. On the RMF-TX remote, hold the Home button and Volume Up button simultaneously for 3 seconds — the remote enters Bluetooth pairing mode. Select it on the TV screen to complete pairing. If the remote was previously paired, you may need to first delete the existing entry under Remotes & Accessories → Bluetooth → your remote name → Forget.
The Google Assistant microphone button on RMF-TX remotes requires an active Bluetooth connection — it does not work over IR. If the button is unresponsive, Bluetooth has dropped. Re-pair as described above. Note: on Android TV (2019–2020 Sony models, not Google TV), the voice button may also fail if the TV's Google app has a pending update — go to Settings → Apps → Google → Update to resolve this specific firmware issue.
Yes — and it's a permanent solution. The app connects via Bravia IP Control over Wi-Fi and replicates all RMF-TX functions: Google TV navigation, Home button, Google Assistant text search, Quick Settings, HDMI input switching, and media playback. Unlike the physical remote, there are no batteries to replace and no Bluetooth to lose. Many users switch to the app permanently after experiencing RMF-TX hardware issues.
