TCL ships two fundamentally different remote types with its smart TVs: the RC825 for Roku TV models (IR + RF, works on Roku 5-Series and 6-Series), and the RC902V for Google TV models (Bluetooth + IR, used on QM8 and QM7). Each has a different failure mode and a different fix. The RC825 loses its RF pairing; the RC902V drops its Bluetooth connection with Google TV. Knowing which remote you have is the first step to a fast fix.

Auto-Discovery. Zero Config.
Your TCL TV appears in the app automatically — no IP address, no Bluetooth, no pairing code. Connects in under 10 seconds on any home Wi-Fi network.
How it works
Replace TCL remote batteries. Solar-powered remotes need ambient light — hold near a lamp for 30 seconds.
Point at the TV's IR receiver and hold Return + Play/Pause simultaneously for 5 seconds to force a Bluetooth re-pair.
Hold Power + Volume Down + Channel Down for 12 seconds. The LED blinks three times on success.
Download the Universal TV Remote app for full TCL TV control over Wi-Fi while you troubleshoot the physical remote.
FAQ
Specific answers for TCL TV users.
The RC825 is an Enhanced RF remote (not IR-only) that must be paired to the Roku TV. To re-pair: remove the batteries, press every button on the remote twice to discharge any residual charge, reinsert batteries, then hold the pairing button inside the battery compartment for 3 seconds until the LED blinks rapidly. On your TCL Roku TV, go to Settings → Remotes & Devices → Pair New Device. If you cannot navigate the TV menu, use our iPhone app to get into settings without the RC825.
The RC902V connects via Bluetooth for shortcut keys and the Google Assistant button, and via IR for basic navigation. If only IR buttons (volume, directional) work but shortcuts fail, Bluetooth has dropped. Re-pair: on the TCL Google TV (navigate via iPhone app if needed), go to Settings → Remotes & Accessories → Bluetooth → Add Device. On the RC902V, hold the Home button and Volume Down for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. Select it on the TV screen.
Yes. Our app supports both TCL TV platforms — Roku TV (via the Roku ECP protocol) and Google TV (via Android TV IP Control). For Roku TV models, enable nothing on the TV side — ECP is active by default. For Google TV models, enable Settings → Device Preferences → IP Control → On once. After that, the app provides complete remote functionality: navigation, Google Assistant, streaming app launcher, and volume control — all without touching a physical remote again.
