Funai Corporation holds the North American licence for the Sanyo name, alongside Philips, Magnavox and Emerson — which is why a Sanyo and a US Philips behave identically: they are the same company’s Roku TVs with different badges. Sanyo Roku TVs are sold through Walmart, and the model numbers begin FW.

Funai launched the first Sanyo Roku TV only recently. Sanyo sets that predate it are not Roku TVs, and many were never network-connected at all — a Wi-Fi app has nothing to find on those.
